The Tokyo Photo Triptych
A different perspective behind the camera — the triptych.
You’re a photographer, and you love to shoot, but today you’re facing a challenge. What do you shoot? Maybe you’re tired shooting the same places and the same scenes, but you don’t have the option of going somewhere new.
You need a different perspective.
This is where the triptych comes in.
The wide shot.
The medium shot.
The close-up image.
Take this process with you wherever you go. It could be something that gets you out of a slump or recharges you and gets you goin’ and searching for new things.
Now keep in mind that the triptych can be used in many different ways. Imagine the forest being your scene. You’re able to take that wide shot showing the whole environment, then start your story. Same goes with an abandoned mall in the middle of the US somewhere. No cars, just boarded up scenes that tell a tale of commerce that once was. Is there a loading dock? Are there signs? Is the area clean or filled with trash? All these are good setups for a triptych adventure. I imagine myself finding details all over the place.
